Stockdale Capital Partners Begins Extensive Transformation of The Shops at Northfield

The center debuts its new name: Avenues at Northfield

Denver, CO (March 23, 2026) — Stockdale Capital Partners has commenced construction on a multimillion-dollar renovation of The Shops at Northfield, which will be rebranded as Avenues at Northfield, highlighted by the addition of a new “central park” and major common area improvements.

“The center’s new brand and identity reflects the role the center plays in the community — where the intersection of 47th and 48th Avenue will converge with a newly modernized pedestrian-only Main Street to create a vibrant community hub for Central Park and the broader community upon the project’s completion,” said Bastian Peters, Managing Director of Retail for Stockdale.

Key components of the project include:

  • A public green space on Main Street, with vibrant landscaping and kids’ play amenities, and a new drop-off and arrival experience.
  • A modernized property aesthetic includes new furniture, expanded walkways, elevated landscaping, and new wayfinding.
  • A placemaking strategy that will introduce year-round programming for the community.

At the center of the renovation will be the transformation of a quarter-mile of roadway —— which currently runs through the heart of the property—— into a 6,000‑square‑foot pedestrian‑focused community space. The new amenity will feature an artfully designed, children’s play area, expanded dining spaces, and programming space for community & culturally focused events such as concerts, kids’ clubs, and free wellness + fitness classes.

Slated for completion ahead of the 2026 holiday season, the project marks a significant milestone in the comprehensive rebranding and repositioning of the 1.1‑million‑square‑foot lifestyle center.

“We’ve spent the last few years listening to the desires of our guests, the community, and our retailers and trying to design something that truly resonates with the Denver community. These latest steps are part of our ongoing effort to create an environment that is family‑friendly, engaging, and a place where people genuinely want to spend time,” said Peters. “Remaining relevant to today’s consumers means creating spaces where life happens and where memories are made right here in the neighborhood.”

Since acquiring the property in 2022, Stockdale has focused on reinvigorating the center, which opened in 2005. To date, the firm has executed leases totaling more than 350,000 square feet, bringing an impressive roster of new retailers and experiences to the property.

American Eagle opened in January, MINISO and 3 Margaritas – a locally owned Mexican restaurant- will open this Spring. Stockdale has also secured Wayfair, Inc. and LifeTime to occupy the former JCPenney’s and Macy’s. Wayfair’s location—its first brick‑and‑mortar store in the Mountain West region—is on track to open in the fourth quarter. LifeTime, a luxury athletic club featuring resort‑style amenities and a new national grocer, is expected to open in 2027.

Members of the design team include Cooper Carry, architects; Lifescape Colorado, landscape architects; and CSI Construction Company, general contractor.
